Paul gave his whole heart in everything he did: his relationship with God, his relationship with the Corinthians and in his ministry. Looking at how Paul overcame incredible difficulties, sorrows and persecution shows his amazing gratitude for God in the middle of all the drama. He describes himself as “sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.” (2 Corinthians 6:10
) Only sincere, heart-felt gratitude for the cross, will inspire us to resist the attraction of the world and to overcome the guilt of our sin.
