Where ever we are at in our faith, there are certain principles that can always re-inspire us in our relationship with our awesome God. This past Sunday, many disciples in Central New York got the chance to hear Chris Broom (visiting from Chicago International Christian Church) preach a powerful message that reminded us of how crucial it is to sow generously in ALL of our relationships. In looking back over the past fifteen years, it is amazing to see how God has blessed us when we invested wholeheartedly in others and in our God. In fact, Jesus said the world will know us by our love for one another, so the salvation of the world is quite literally dependent on how we honor God through our relationships.
2 Corinthians 9:6-8
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
As Chris mentioned, his wife Theresa likes to use the analogy of sowing a seed. You can count on two things when planting:
1. You reap later than when you sow.
2. You reap more than what you sow.
As we reach out to strengthen one another and to save the whole world one soul at a time over the NEXT fifteen years, let’s strive to build those relationships that go beyond a bland and worldly view of kindness that often refrains from speaking the truth in love, to relationships where there is an appreciation and expectation of kindness as we teach one another how to obey Jesus. (2 Timothy 2:22-26
)
It was great to see Lisa Fellis, Pat and Pam Boea, Chris and Austin Broom as we all got to enjoy the worship, lunch and talent show together! We thank God for what He has done and is continuing to do and will do in the future amongst us! Many of us are looking forward to visiting with our brothers and sisters from the City of Angels International Christian Church and sister congregations around the world; these are the times of being together where we all get to see God building the kind of relationships in His church that truly can SAVE THE WORLD!
